Summer is Exhausting!

I dragged the kids to the city pool quite a bit this summer.  It's one of my favorite things to do on a hot summer day.  We were often so tired afterwards, that it wasn't unusual to find Shane (or even Allie) like this:

Poor little boy. He sure loves to go swimming, but he is worn out when we come home!

A Weekend Getaway

My parents were kind enough to take the kids to Twin Falls so that Tyson and I could have a weekend together.  (Matthew stayed at Gideon's so that he could be there for Gid's birthday.) We went to dinner at Costa Vida on Friday night, and then stayed at the Crystal Inn.

Saturday morning, we got up early to hike Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon. We came home around lunchtime, and then we went out to dinner and to Park City Saturday night.

(We saw three moose right on the trail.)

(A stuffed abominable snow monster in Park City...had to take the picture to show Allie!)

Sunday morning, I picked up Matthew and drove to Twin Falls to visit for a few days. The kids were already having fun with their cousins, and Matthew was happy to see Baker. We took the kids to a trampoline park and out to lunch.

We also visited Granddad Jackson. It was a fun trip to Twin Falls.

More Summer Fun

Allison and Shane enjoyed playing in the sprinkler on hot summer days.  (Reminds me of my childhood!) Makay and Blake Miller (our neighbors) also came over to play.

I took the kids to Neptune Park in Saratoga Springs.  What a cool place! I've never seen a park like it before.  Definitely a place we'll have to go back to often.

Corinne, Matthew, and Allison all made it to the top.  Shane made it to the first level! :)

McKasson Family Reunion - Day 2

On Saturday, we all went to the Lindon Aquatics Center.  It was a really fun place for people of all ages.  The older kids especially loved the wave rider.

(Susan let Shane hang out in her wagon and watch a movie on her phone. He needed a break from the sun!)

That night, we went to Brick Oven for dinner where I had reserved a large banquet room.  It was nice to have a place to visit before we had to say our goodbyes.

Aunt Nancy gave us some pictures we had drawn as children when Granddad had a massive heart attack in the 1980's. It was so fun to see all those sweet little cards lovingly made by his young granddaughters.

It was such a fun reunion!  I can't wait until the next one in 2017!

McKasson Family Reunion - Day 1

Last January, I did a facebook post about my Granddad McKasson (it was his birthday).  I got so many comments from cousins and other friends and relatives, that I started thinking about how we always talk about having a reunion, but we never do it. This time, I jumped in with both feet and planned it!

We had over 60 people come to Utah the weekend of July 10th. It was so nice that so many people made it a priority to come.  I really enjoyed spending time with my cousins who have always been my best friends.

On Friday the 10th, we had a picnic in Provo Canyon (South Fork).  Susan and Brian were in charge of games and activities, and my parents ran the program.

 (Singing granddad's songs.)

The Schaedler Family

The Steve McKasson Family

The Marc McKasson Family

(The Davis Family weren't able to come.)

The whole McKasson gang!

A group of us went to dinner that night at Buffalo Wild Wings. Brooks also went home that night.
(Allison really grew to love Brooks even more, and she was very sad when he left. She even told me that Brooks feels like a brother to her and is always nice to her and lets her play with him. So sweet.)

The Aquarium and BYU

Brooks Barney came to visit Matthew right after the 4th of July.  It happened to be the same week we had the McKasson Family Reunion, so he got to tag along on a lot of fun outings. It was a super fun week for Matthew (and all of us) to have Brooks here.

First, we spent the morning at the Aquarium with Grandparents McKasson:

Then, we headed over to BYU to shop at the Bookstore and look around campus. I had to get a picture of Brooks in his Utes shirt surrounded by a sea of royal blue.

Guess who was at the Legends Building?!?!?  I got to meet TY DETMER. He was so nice to visit with my parents while they waited for my family to get over there.

Tyson and I took the kids over to the Indoor Practice Facility and let them play soccer/do gymnastics for a bit.  Then, in honor of our anniversary that week, we had to stop by good ol' Park Plaza and get a picture in front of my apartment where we met, dated, and got engaged. Cheesy, yes, but super fun. ;)
