gymnastics exhibition (with videos!)

Corinne had her gymnastics exhibition last Saturday.  (This was for Level 1, which she just completed.  She went to a pass-off night and passed off to Level 2.  Level 1 has been a little boring for her, so she is excited to move up.)  She did a great job on all of her routines, and we all enjoyed watching her.

This is her beam routine:

(They don't do much for vault at this level, mostly just teach them to have a powerful run and to bounce off the springboard.  In fact, I don't think they even touch the actual vault until Level 3.)
Here she is waiting to do her vault:

And doing her vault:

Here is her uneven bars routine:

And her floor routine:

Afterwards, they gave each girl a medal and some treats. Here she is after the performance at the "photo-op".  The theme was "Out of this World".

She was so excited to have her "best cousin" Sydney spend the day with us and go to her performance.

Allison's word of the month

Allison picks up words from Corinne and Matthew and loves to incorporate them into any sentence.  She usually has no idea what the word means, but I think she feels "big" just using the word.

Lately, the word has been obvious.  As in:

"Matt, that prayer was so obvious."

or,  after I helped her do a "big jump", she said,

"That jump was very obvious!"

Love her.

Our Easter

I am still playing catch-up.  Here is our Easter:

It was a fun weekend with lots of cousin time and a nice Sunday as a family.

a poem meant for Allison

This is actually Allison's morning hair:

And this is the poem Corinne recited when she saw her:

There was a little girl, who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead,
And when she was good, she was very, very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.
(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

I think the author of this poem must have known Allie in another life.

bird feeder

Allison and I made a pinecone bird feeder today.  Or as Allie called it, a "feed cheeder".  That turned into a "beed feeder", and then finally "bird feeder".

I don't think I will ever look at a bird feeder again without smiling and thinking of Allie's little 3 year old voice calling it a feed cheeder .
